Emily's first cooing

Today is the first time we heard Emily cooing when we talked to her. :) It happened so suddenly that we did not manage to video it now. Hope to hear more from her. :)

Emily's 2 weeks old

Emily is two weeks old today. Damon bought 2 small pieces of cake to celebrate the occasion. Clare and Isaiah are the happiest as they love to eat cakes. Isaiah, in particular, likes to see the candles being lighted up and blowing them off after singing the song.

Isaiah' love for cars

Isaiah loves to play with cars since he was very young. Every time we are at the toy section of a departmental store, he will stay fixated in front of the Tomica cars.

He will be ecstatic if we buy him a small car. He especially loves those cars with doors that can open and close. He can spend a long time just opening and closing the doors of the cars and rolling them on the floor or table. At home, he likes to arrange them in a line and tells us he is parking the cars.

Today, we suddenly realised that he was very quiet in his room and we went to see what mischief he was up to. To our surprise, we saw him quietly admiring the cars he had just arranged in a line. :)

First tummy time

We placed Emily her tummy for her tummy time the first time. This strong gal managed to lift her head slightly to turn it to the other side. Of course, like Clare and Isaiah, she got frustrated and angry after a while and started wailing.

We will be giving her daily tummy session from today onwards. :)

Yeah! I did it!

Carolling at Cheshire Home

After 2 rehearsals, the daddies, mummies and kids are ready to perform for the residents at Cheshire Home.

All of them dressed up in either red or green and had either a Santa hat or a reindeer headgear. Each kid also brought along their musical instruments.

The performance went on well and I hope that the kids while enjoying the carolling session, learnt something about spreading joy to others. :)

Isaiah's Music Class and Bonding Time with Daddy

Clare started Baby Music class at Mandeville when she just turned two years old. Baby Music class is a parent-accompanied group class. It aims to teach basic music theory, instruments, composers and music appreciation through play and songs and is conducted by 2 teachers.

We wanted Isaiah to attend Baby Music class too. When he was about to turn two, we went to enquire for upcoming Baby Music Class with Ms Loh. To our astonishment, we were told that the next available class is almost one year later. We decided to wait for this class since Isaiah was not able to communicate that time yet. We registered him and had to pay for a one term's fees and materials to secure his place in June though his lessons would only start in November as there were people on the waiting list.

For the first lesson, I was unable to accompany Isaiah as I was already heavily pregnant by then. Damon went in with him and I spent some time with Clare at United Square while waiting.

Daddy says that he was very cautious of his environment and did not dare to venture out of the comfort zone of him. He also observed the lesson rather than taking part in the class.

Today is Isaiah's third lesson, Daddy said he was able to participate well in the class now. Isaiah looks forward for his Music class every week.

After his Music class, Damon brought him to watch The Little Big Club show featuring Barney, Fireman Sam and Angelina. Isaiah likes Barney and he was initially very excited while waiting. However, the moment the music started and the comperes appeared on stage, he became very frightened and started to point to the exit and asked for me. His eyes became all wet. Damon managed to distract him using his hand phone and they managed to sit through the show.

This phobia is something that Clare had too. She didn't dare to watch all these live shows or music due to the loud music. Up til now, Clare still doesn't really dare to watch movies. I hope that Clare and Isaiah would overcome their fear completely very soon.

Sophie's Birthday Party

Clare attended Sophie's birthday party today. Damon accompanied her there. It is a special party held at an Art studio.

The invited children got to paint on a predrawn canvas. Girls painted princesses and boys painted princes. There were instructors helping the children along the way. After the painting was completed, she could bring back her painting.

Sophie's birthday cake was a castle cake surrounded by Disney Princesses. The children were so impressed by the cake.

After eating the cake, the children sat down and had a chit-chatting session. Clare then came home happily with her painting, a magic wand, goodie bag from the studio and 2 goodie bags from Auntie Li Nah, one of which is for Isaiah. Thank you Li Nah for organizing such a wonderful party. :)

Carolling Practice Session

Pei Ee, like last year, has kindly organized a carolling session at the Cheshire Home. Clare missed the first rehearsal at Gina's house on Tuesday.

All of them met up again at Li Nah's condo function room for a second rehearsal. The kids had a great time singing and rehearsing. Andy's was on the guitar and Li Nah choreographed dance movements for a Chinese song and the children had fun following her movements.

The children then had finger nails painting session as Jessy had bought nail stickers for the children. After that, they did Christmas craft works that Li Nah gave in their Christmas goodie bags. The children then had some time having free play and musical chairs.

It was a fun-filled and meaningful afternoon for Clare. :)

Visit to Lactation Consultant

I intend to breastfed Emily just like I have breastfed Clare and Isaiah. However, I am
very prone to plugged ducts. With Clare, I even developed Mastitis.

Emily could latch on very well since Day 1. On the fourth day after her birth, my breasts started to get very engorged. I could feel huge lumps on both of them and Emily could not seem to clear them. I was very worried that I would develop Mastitis again. I asked for advice from fellow mummies from Auntie Kampung Style and Joan, they all agreed that I should keep massaging. However, days passed and after all the painful massaging, I still could not get rid of the lumps.

It kind of affected my mood and I was easily frustrated as a result. Pei Ee suggested that I should see a lactation consultant. During my visit to the gynae, Dr Ong also suggested seeing a LC and gave me a contact. However, I kept putting it off as I heard many horror stories of the pain mummies went through with the LCs.

On day 10 after Emily's birth, I decided that I should just bear with the pain once and for all to clear the lumps as it was affecting me emotionally.

I called the LC Dr Ong recommended and went down straight to her house in an hour's time. She is Karen Lenn. The moment I saw her, I knew I was in good hands as she looked so motherly and reassuring.

To my surprise, the whole procedure was comfortable with minimal pain and it only took 30 minutes. All she did was to put hot towels and gently massage them. And.. all the lumps were just gone. I was so so thankful for her help. She was really God-sent.

In the meantime, Emily was crying for me, or rather for her milk. We hurried home and she was already red in the face from crying. :)

I really felt so much better after that and my mood became much much better too. :)

Emily's One Week Old!

Emily's one week old and Damon bought a small cake for a mini celebration. Clare and Isaiah were very thrilled by the idea and both of them ate almost the whole cake.

Dear Lord, on this day, I want to thank You for blessing us with Emily, Isaiah and Clare. Thank you for a good week and I pray that you will continue to watch over our three kids and bless them with good health always!

Emily's First Outing to the PD and Dr Ong

Dr Simon (Clare's and Isaiah's PD) was away on leave when I gave birth birth to Emily. His covering doctor, Dr Lim, attended to Emily in the hospital.

We decided to switch Emily back to Dr Simon for her first week check as we find Dr Simon a very careful and conservative doctor and we are more comfortable with him.

Emily was born at 3.16kg and she left the hospital weighing 2.9kg. We were happy to know that at one week old, she was 3.2kg. Dr Simon checked her and said that all was well. We were initially worried that Emily would have Jaundice as she looked a little yellow. So we were glad when Dr Simon said that she only had mild jaundice which we could monitor at home.

Next, we went to Dr Ong for my check. We had a good laugh as we thought about my labour. We then took a picture with him, together with Emily.

Lord, I want to thank you for blessing us with such a wonderful gynae who is very pro-life and pro-natural. Dr Ong was with us all the way from Nathaniel to Emily and he never failed to assure us when we were worried. He always spend time listening to us and also patiently answers all our queries. Most of the time during our checks, we would be chatting about anything under the sun. Thank you Dr Ong for making my pregnancies such wonderful experiences. :)

Clare's Bonding Time with Daddy

Daddy decided to bring Clare out today as she was getting bored at home. We actually had a hard time persuading her to go out as she wanted to stay with me. After much persuasion, she went out a d she didn't regret.

Daddy brought her to Din Tai Fung to eat her favourite Xiao Long Bao. They had a slow and leisure lunch there. Then they proceeded to Taka to get a present for her reward for collecting 10 stickers for not coming over to our room in the night. Their last stop was at Kinokuniya where Daddy bought her a magazine and a book.

Clare came back a happy girl, beaming with joy. :)

Prawning Session with the School

Clare's school has organised for the older children in her school to visit a fish farm. They were given the opportunity to try prawning. Clare came home that day and announced proudly that she caught a total of 5 big prawns. =)
